Our clients wanted to keep the character of their virtually untouched 1920s Arts and Crafts house in Ashtead while modernising it for the way they live now. Harp & Harp carried out the complete refurbishment, renovation and extension, including full interior design.
We retained, enhanced or reimagined the original features — oak panelling, leaded windows, arched openings and exposed beams — and extended and remodelled sensitively to create the spaces a contemporary family expects. A large open-plan kitchen sits around a bespoke island; a garden room opens to the terrace through full-height steel-framed doors; bedrooms and bathrooms above were reworked around the house’s existing arches and proportions.
The result is a home that feels fully connected to its history while being ready for the next hundred years of its life.
